The Mock-Up A Retrospective is a compilation of thirteen selected pages from seven anniversary issues spanning April 1943 through 1946. World War II era newspapers on military bases had the same mission as their civilian counterparts, serving up the "late breaking news" of the base which consisted primarily of sporting events, commendations received by deployed trainees and other sanctioned information. Regularly, training programs were highlighted. Ample photos round out each 1944 through 1946 issue. With the temporary bases of WW II gone, these remnant pages become a highly prized resource while providing a glimpse into the lives of those involved at the Naval Amphibious Base at Ft. Pierce, Florida.
